The "one and only" Walter Palmer is Hilton Head Island's most engaging sculptor. Palmer moved to Hilton Head Island on the day he graduated from the Atlanta College of Art in 1970. For over thirty years he has created whimsical and enchanting sculptures featuring his signature birds in various, if not hilarious poses.

Palmer has been commissioned to create his flights of fancy for boardrooms of Fortune 500 companies, luxury hotels, cruise lines, a federal reserve bank, and a long list of discriminating private collectors, including those in England, Europe and the Caribbean.

Palmer describes his works as portraits. Each commissioned piece tends to highlight a characteristic of the collector. His bronzes range from twenty-foot high fountains to tabletop pieces of various sizes and poses. All of Palmer's work shows the unusual combination of a childlike fascination executed with the sure hand of a seasoned artist.
